Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based 8-week psychoeducational group intervention (including a 4-hour silent retreat), created by Dr. John Kabat-Zinn. The program teaches people about the stress response and how to use mindfulness meditation to alleviate their suffering. Through intensive training, you will cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and the ways in which stress impacts your mind and body. Research has shown the program leads to a number of psychological benefits including better self-regulation skills, cognitive flexibility, and a higher level of self-compassion and distress tolerance. This is not a therapy but a mindfulness training course designed to be used in a group format. However, private sessions are available.
